Student: How to Use the College Suggestions AI Agent

Learn how to use the College Suggestions AI Agent to generate a personalized list of college recommendations in School Search.

The College Suggestions AI Agent helps you build a personalized list of college recommendations based on your academic profile, goals, and priorities. Instead of manually filtering through School Search, you describe what you're looking for and the agent returns a ranked, explained list of best-fit colleges.

*Note: This agent may not be available in your district yet. Your school district must enable it before it appears in School Search.

Accessing the Agent

  1. Click College in the side navigation bar, then select School Search.

  2. Click the College Suggestions AI Agent button.

    *Note: If this button is disabled, your district hasn't enabled this agent yet.

Step 1: Build Your Prompt

  • The agent pre-fills fields from your profile: GPA (weighted and unweighted), SAT/ACT scores, and your Goals (post-secondary, career, college, major/training). You can deselect any of these or add them back.

  • Use Must Have and Nice to Have to describe additional priorities in your own words, such as location, programs, cost, or campus culture.

  • The left panel also shows a list of your previous runs, so you can revisit past results.

Step 2: Generating Results

  • Click Generate suggestions and the agent will process your prompt. This takes a few moments.

Step 3: Reviewing Your Results

  • The agent returns up to 10 colleges, ranked from highest to lowest match.

  • Each result shows a match strength: Strong, Good, or Partial, along with the college's name, location, public/private status, and three bullet points explaining why it was suggested.

  • The result list gets an auto-generated name, which you can edit.

From here, you can either Re-run or Save to List

  • Re-run: Go back to your prompt with your previous inputs pre-filled so you can adjust and try again.

  • Save to List: Save all results to a new list. This creates a dedicated AI suggestions list within your Favorites & Lists page with the same name as your result set.

Where Your Suggestions Show Up

  • Any college on one of your AI Suggestions lists gets a Suggested badge on its tile in School Search. Hover over the badge to see why it was suggested.

  • The college's profile page also shows a Recommendation section with the "why" from your most recent matching run.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I click on the College Suggestions AI Agent?

Your district controls whether this agent is turned on. Check with your counselor if you don't see the button in School Search.

Can I run the agent more than once?

Yes. Each run creates its own result set, and you can view past runs from the prompt screen.

Can I edit or delete a list the agent created?
