Overview

In SchooLinks, students explore internships, volunteer opportunities, apprenticeships, and jobs through the Opportunity Board. These experiences support students’ career exploration and postsecondary development.

Opportunities displayed on the Opportunity Board may come from the following sources:

  • VolunteerMatch.org

  • SchooLinks Community Network — opportunities posted by industry partners or college representatives

  • District-posted opportunities

☝️ Opportunity Visibility and Sources:

  • Opportunity sources are managed at the district level in District Settings

  • Opportunities created by the district are always visible to students.

  • Opportunities from VolunteerMatch.org and the SchooLinks Community Network can be enabled or disabled by the district.

How Opportunities Are Added to the Opportunity Board

District-created opportunities can be added to the Opportunity Board in two ways:

  • Manually, from Engage > Opportunity Board Management

  • In bulk, from Admin > Data Upload

This article covers manual creation and management using Opportunity Board Management.

For instructions on uploading opportunities in bulk, see Bulk Import into Opportunity Board.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is included in the Total Views count?

Total Views includes interactions from students, staff, and members.

What opportunity interactions count as a view?

A view is recorded only when a user clicks one of the following:

  • Apply Online

  • View Application Instructions

  • Download Application

Opening an opportunity or viewing it in a list does not count as a view.

Can opportunities be reused in future school years?

Yes! Opportunities do not need to be recreated each year.

If an opportunity becomes inactive because a start date or application deadline has passed, it can be reused by updating the start date and/or application deadline to a future date and saving the changes.

Are inactive opportunities visible to students?

No. Inactive opportunities are hidden from students, staff and members on the Opportunity Board but remain visible to staff in Opportunity Board Management.
