The Course Request export is an option available to districts that want to import courses selected in SchooLinks into their Student Information System for scheduling. This report will show courses selected for the next school year only.

Overview of the Course Request Exports

Once course planning is completed in SchooLinks, the Course Request export is used to load next year’s course requests in your Student Information System. Multiple formats are offered based on SIS and the types of course alternatives (None, Electives, Global Alternates, Direct Alternates) that were used for course planning. These reports may be downloaded from the Course Planner dashboard or pulled from the Report Center.

‼️ Important Note

SchooLinks never writes data directly into your Student Information System (SIS). Your district fully controls when and how course request data is uploaded from SchooLinks into your SIS.

Before exporting the Course Request report, please review the file format options below as a you may need your format updated before moving forward with the export.

  • You can view the file formats for SchooLinks Standard Course Request exports here 👉 Standard Course Requests Formats.

  • SchooLinks can change the report format to fit the requirements of specific Student Information Systems. SIS specific file formats can be viewed here 👉 SIS Specific Course Request Formats. Please contact the SchooLinks team if you need to change your report format. Reports can be accommodated for the following systems:

    • PowerSchool

    • Frontline (TEAMS)

    • Skyward

    • Progressbook/Progressbook DASL

    • Ascender

    • Synergy

    • eSchool

Exporting from the Report Center

  1. Click Track in the side navigation bar, then select Report Center.

  2. Use the search function to find the report titled Next Year’s Course Requests

  3. Click the report and select all applicable filters. Under the Deliver Report section, choose Download or Scheduled Delivery to the SFTP and add a report name, frequency, and time. If you elect to send it to the SFTP, the report will be placed in the /schoolinks_exports directory of your SFTP folder.

*Note: If exporting from the Report Center, the ability to filter by Course Plan status is unavailable. Should there be a preference to only export courses approved by a counselor, the recommendation is to export the report from the Course Planner dashboard.

Exporting Alternate Courses

Depending on the Course Request file option selected for the district, alternate course selections will be included in the Course Request export, or they can be exported separately. For districts that choose to export alternate course selections separately, the Export Alternate Courses report is available to download from both the Course Planner dashboard and the Report Center.

Follow the same steps above to export the report by selecting Export Alternate Courses.

  1. From the Course Planner Dashboard

  2. From the Report Center
