What is a Credential Wallet?
The Credential Wallet is a secure digital platform for storing, managing, and sharing student credentials in one place. A credential is a verifiable record that recognizes a student’s achievements, containing authenticated data on when, where, and how it was earned. This ensures employers and institutions can easily verify its authenticity.
With the Credential Wallet, students can showcase the tangible outcomes of their education, clearly highlighting their accomplishments in a compelling and impactful way.
How Does it Work?
The Credential Wallet operates on a system called the Triangle of Trust, ensuring that all credentials are authentic, secure, and verifiable. This system consists of three key participants:
Issuer: The organization that creates and issues a credential (e.g., a school district).
Holder: The individual who owns and stores credentials in their wallet (e.g., a student).
Verifier: The organization that confirms a credential’s authenticity through the Verifiable Data Registry (e.g., SchooLinks).
👉 Example
After completing a professional course, Maya Junior (holder) earns a credential from her school, East High (issuer). She uploads it to SchooLinks (verifier), where the system checks a trusted database to verify that the certificate is authentic. Later, when she applies for an internship, her potential employer can easily confirm the certificate through SchooLinks.
How are Credentials Added?
Credentials can be issued through SchooLinks or imported from other wallets.
