Taking Notes on Students

  • In this article, we will show counselors how they can take notes on students.

Why would I take notes on SchooLinks?

The notes feature allows you to keep track of notes on students, along with all the other information SchooLinks gathers on them. This way you have a one stop shop to get all the information you need on a student before you have an appointment with them.

NOTE: Only you can see the notes you take on students. The students themselves will not be able to see any notes you take on them. 

You can also log notes about meetings with students. To learn how to log meeting notes, go to Logging Meetings with Students

 

1. Selecting a Student

To add notes for a student, click on the card for that student. 

2. Write Note

Click the Write Note button to write a note. 

Select the box next to the subject the note is pertaining to. When a subject is selected, the box will turn blue and have a white checkmark inside.

Then type your note and click Save. 

Once again, students will not be able to see any notes you take.

Now you can read the note you wrote. 

3. Edit Notes

To edit a note, hover over the card of the note you want to edit.

Then click the gray pencil icon that appears.

From here you can rewrite your note. You can also select a different subject that the note pertains to. 

Then click Save to save what you changed.

Then you will see that your note has updated.

4. Delete Notes

To delete a note, hover over the card of the note you want to delete.

Then click the gray pencil icon that appears.

Then click the red Delete button. 

Confirm that you want to delete the note.

Click Delete Note. 

Now you'll see that the note has been deleted.
